Maasai Cricket Warriors Uses cricket as a tool empower our society, we are from a society that is male dominated, meaning that women have no say, more often men would speak for the women.
In this society, child marriage and female genital mutilation is encouraged, this is a retrogressive practice that affects the well-being of our society and FGM for example complicates the situation by causing health related issues during birth.
During cricket training, we use it a platform to spread these messages to the elders and to the whole society. During cricket training, the girls gain courage and that helps them to advocate for a healthy society where everyone enjoys equal rights.
We have introduced cricket to many schools and this helps us to spread our messages to many people. We believe that, sports is an ultimate power that will transform societies.
There before we had no voice, but through cricket we can now face the elders.
