The futsal courts installed by the Galaxy Foundation invite local youth of any age to participate in soccer programming while having positive interactions with law enforcement officers providing them with alternatives to drugs and gangs. Adults have also flocked to the space to take advantage of healthy active outdoor recreation using the courts for pickup adult games on a regular basis. The LA Galaxy Foundation (LAGF) is actively seeking to create additional safe places to play due to the outstanding need in the Los Angeles area. LAGF invited Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers to see the space in Hawthorne and they too saw the positive impact it created for local youth. LAPD officers now drive youth to participate at the Hawthorne courts while funds are being raised by LAGF to build a similar space for local programming in their neighborhood. Support from Beyond Sport would allow this construction to happen more quickly. Thank you for your time and consideration of this request.
