More about L.A. Clippers and Steve and Connie Ballmer – L.A. Parks Foundation Major Gift
The L.A. Clippers, along with Steve and Connie Ballmer, are solving a major infrastructure problem for the City of Los Angeles, giving all of L.A. access to updated basketball courts that will allow them to take advantage of youth sports programming and its benefits. The Clippers are empowering the development of quality, reliable and resilient regional infrastructure to support human well-being, with a focus on affordable and equitable access for all.
The Clippers and Ballmers made a major gift to the L.A. Parks Foundation to renovate almost 350 public basketball courts. Because of the 2028 Olympics, L.A. will receive up to $160 million to benefit youth sports programming and the Clippers’ gift will ensure that all geographic and economically diverse areas of L.A. will have access to it.
Beyond the obvious health, academic and social benefits of physical activity, the courts will also be used as community gathering spaces. Many of the courts are in communities where the Girls Play L.A. initiative is driving higher participation by young women in youth sports. Gender equity is a core value of the Clippers, who have the largest female leadership team in the NBA.
