More about Kilimanjaro Initiative Climbs
Kilimanjaro Initiative (KI) organizes annual climbs of Mt Kilimanjaro to raise awareness on social issues affecting disenfranchised youth and to collect funds for youth-based community projects in Kenya. The climbs bring together youth and representatives from private and public sectors, from different social and economic backgrounds, who not only climb the mountain as one but also discuss and put into action all-inclusive solutions to development problems.
KI was founded by UK citizen Timothy Challen after he was shot by armed youth in Nairobi, Kenya. The organization works with at risk-youth, former criminals and victims of crime, assisting them to be agents of positive change and role models in their respective communities.
