More about Inter Campus Uganda: right to study, right to play
Since 1997 Inter Campus gives back the Right To Play to needy children, using football as an educational tool. Inter Campus Uganda was established in 2008 with the help of local CUAMM (Doctors with Africa) hospitals in order to raise literacy levels and increase access to healthcare for marginalized children. The project is based in the St Joseph Primary School Nagallama and includes also the sporting and educational training of local instructors. Through sport, boys and girls 6-13 y.o. in the surrounding rural areas are brought closer to school and health infrastructure. This allows for better monitoring and thus treatment for and protection from common illnesses connected to contaminated water, which is the principal cause of infant mortality in the country. The strong appeal of soccer for children boosts the school attendance and gets a higher involvement of families and act as a catalyst for local authorities to the benefit of the youngsters.
