More about IMAGE: Indian Mixed-Ability Group Events
Winner of the ‘Leader in Volunteer Engagement’ iVolunteer Award, IMAGE uses sport as a social vaccine to create Disability Confidence between disabled and non-disabled Indian youth.
Sport speaks a universal language, and automatically creates a fun and appealing environment for people to engage, allowing us to convey important messages about health, education, and equality, which has been instrumental in changing attitudes and behaviours.
The main aim of IMAGE is to break down barriers that exclude disabled people from mainstream society, and bridge the communication gaps between the non-disabled and disabled communities.
IMAGE has created a new world where disabled and non-disabled youth and children are taking part in an everyday activity, side by side on an equal footing, creating a model for other areas of life. This is passive social education with the aim of integrating communities, by compelling everybody to re-define their abilities.
The name, IMAGE, was selected to represent the root cause, and the acronym to represent the transformation we wanted to bring. This is direct social re-education, creating integrated communities, where all abilities are respected.
