More about ICEF Rugby
Gang violence is endemic in South Central Los Angeles. African American males are 6 times more likely to be murdered in South Central then in the next most dangerous neighborhood in Los Angeles. Our participating students are not immune to the violence in the community and their lives have been impacted by it.
ICEF Rugby has been not only a positive alternative for thousands of young participants over the past 14 seasons; it continues to produce leaders that are impacting the South Central community as young adults.
Gangs proliferate where other opportunities are limited. ICEF Rugby has enabled scholars at ICEF Public Schools and other local schools an intensive character driven outlet. 100% of participants graduate from high school. Most gang members lack a high school diploma. 85% of the ICEF Rugby high school graduates go on to university. When they enter university they are entering a realm of leadership within their own community that defies the norm.
ICEF Rugby is ironically a proven force for peace and progress in South Central LA.
