More about Horizons Project
Switch Up exists to empower young people, children and young adults to break the cycle of offending and reoffending.
Through engaging young people in positive activities such as sports, mentoring and peer mentoring, we equip them with the skills, character and confidence they need to realise their full potential. We work with targeted hard to reach, vulnerable young people from deprived backgrounds. Using sport as a hook, we then work on building relationships, trust and mutual respect. We use diversional activities and early intervention techniques that help to engage young people in sport and positive activities, linking them to opportunities they didn’t know existed, providing positive role models, peer mentors, counsellors, and educational support through difficult or challenging life situations. We support them to transition into employment, further education and training.
We give the hopeless hope and the voiceless a voice, we provide a family environment for those that don’t have a family, we educate young people on issues affecting our communities e.g Knife crime, grooming, exploitation, extremism just to name a few.
