More about Hockey Goes Higher: How hockey helps improve education & create jobs
The Hockey Foundation’s global mission is to empower under-served youth, promote social change, peace and prosperity, and support community development through hockey. Our hockey programs in the Himalayan region of Ladakh, in the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir, have been developed in partnership with local clubs & schools to reinforce life-skills and ideals such as teamwork, leadership, accountability, honesty, resilience, self-determination, and integrity. We also donate books to schools to help support English-literacy, and in addition to the thousands of pieces of hockey equipment we’ve donated around the region, have recently supported the completion of an arena that will result in jobs that previously never existed in the country, let alone the region – hockey jobs. Our support, whether it be through book donations, classroom sessions, conversation classes, personal guidance, organizational advisement, national team development, coaching clinics and/or material support (hockey equipment donations) have been a positive catalyst in the community for 9 years and running!
