More about Handball for Good
Our mission is to provide a safe space for girls and young women from low-income communities to participate in free, non-discriminatory, recreational handball (not in the above list) sport activities.
Our project is the only open-access sports program offered at no charge for underserved girls and young women in the community nearby Ciudad Oculta.
93% of our participants do not participate in any other sporting or cultural activity outside of school because they cannot afford access. Handball for good, as many of the activities at Club Cardenas, disrupts this status quo by offering sport and cultural activities for free.
Girls and young women from our target demographic are generally marginalized in society. We have created a model of youth leadership whereby the group is co-led by two female youth leaders, empowering them as leaders and role models in their community.
The ages of the girls that participate in the group range between 7 and 14.
About half of them come from Bolivian, Paraguayan or Peruvian background and belong to families that have immigrated to Argentina seeking a better future.
