More about Girls in the Game
Although we live in one of the wealthiest countries in the world, American youth are facing the biggest youth health crisis in history - childhood overweight and inactivity. Girls, especially those living in urban environments, are disproportionately at risk. Girls in the Game’s programs provide girls the space and tools to overcome interrelated health problems such as obesity, inactivity, poor nutrition and low self-esteem. Girls in the Game uses sports to teach girls important life lessons about health, leadership and self-esteem. From yoga and lacrosse to soccer and dance, Girls in the Game exposes girls to a wide and energizing mix of sports and fitness activities year round.
Girls are encouraged to get in the game —any game—so they can learn teamwork and determination, and to make choices that lead to a happier, healthier life. All sports and fitness programming includes hands-on workshops on nutrition, health and leadership.
