More about Gira - Bola
In the past, sport was a luxury, delivered for Richie people particularly for men, never for women. Now a day in Mozambique and everywhere, sport is not a luxury but, rather a necessary and complementary approach than can expand the impact of more traditional methods of fostering individual and community development. Gender Aspects and local beliefs and trends, still a barrier for girls in sport practise. So, the universal popularity of sport, combined with the many physical, social and economic development benefits it can deliver and its proven success as an education and social mobilization platform, make it an ideal tool for reducing the barriers and promote gender equality and empower women.
This project seeks to raise interest on the recreation activities as a way of putting girls and the community in general, enjoying the sport not only because of the fan but also as a vehicle of social cohesion, promote gender equity and empower women/girls in rural areas, trough acquisition of skills, social networks, leader ship opportunities and community development through sport.
