More about Getting Manchester Moving
A partnership between Manchester City Football Club, Manchester Public Health Development Service and Manchester City council, Getting Manchester Moving is a city wide physical activity campaign and healthy eating awareness initiative that aims to work with over 50,000 residents of Manchester a year. Funded by the Football Foundation, Getting Manchester Moving is a multi-agency approach to tackling health issues in Manchester.
As part of Getting Manchester Moving project a range of activities are organised including: NHS Health Trainer based with CITC; no smoking and health living sessions at Manchester schools; fitness activities for over 50’s at the City of Manchester Stadium; Dads and Lads Football Sessions; Healthy Living camps for young people; well-being at work sessions; family fit days and pre-match sport activities. Getting Manchester Moving also uses the power of football and branding of MCFC to run a social marketing campaign that uses a range of media to promote a range of health messages to the community – these have included poster campaigns, using MCFC media outlets such as www.mcfc.co.uk; and the creation of a designated website – www.gettingmanchestermoving.org which aims to pull together a range of information on physical activity and where this can be accessed
