This program provides a platform of work that coordinates the practice of soccer and the organization of tournaments with the education and capacity building of its participants. This League interconnects grassroots organizations and sport clubs working with children and youth as a network. One of the main problems this program address is social exclusion, violence, lack of opportunities and lack of healthy and safe spaces for poor children and youth to practice sports.
Working with grassroots organizations, this program assure spaces for sports in 18 different neighborhoods for more than 8.000 children and youth. The program has three components: i) sports, with soccer matches every weekend and weekly trainings; ii) Education, with the training of participants in issues like Communications, Management, Coaching, etc.; iii) Technical assistance to the participant organizations, in order to provide skills for a better management and sustainability. The program also address health issues, providing basic medical assistance for children and youth from 7 to 18 years old, through the installation of medical tents in the different neighborhoods, due in the area where this program works there are only one hospital for 500 million people.
