More about Fit2Go
Statistics from the National Child Measurement Programme showed that 22% of Blackpool’s 10 and 11-year-olds fall into the obese category which is more than the national average of 19.1%.
Fit2Go increases learning opportunities and supports the education of young people and their families with regards to leading a healthy lifestyle both in and out of the school setting in the Blackpool area.
Fit2Go visits primary schools to promote the importance of a well-balanced diet; taking part in regular physical activity; getting the correct amount of sleep; and making healthy choices whilst building links with local community clubs and groups to create sporting opportunities after delivery.
It is clear that something needed to change and with the success of the programme in its infancy it was clear that Fit2Go could help to improve the lives of all residents and overcome negative statistics that the town has received in recent years.
Along with the additions of the High School and Family programmes Blackpool FC Community Trust have used Fit2Go to increase community cohesion, improve behaviour and interaction of groups/individuals; as well as facilitating inter-generational understanding
