More about FBB Schools
Football Beyond Borders uses football as an engagement tool for early intervention to tackle challenging behaviour and raise the level of educational attainment of children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds - many of whom are at risk of exclusion. We deliver our award winning (London FA, British Youth Council) FBB Schools programme to 250+ children. Our programmes combine football coaching with educational support with the ultimate aim of raising the aspirations and developing the literacy skills of the children we work with. To do this, we have created a football themed curriculum with a literacy focus which promotes creativity and the development of skills including reading, writing, speaking and listening, and media training in order to supplement traditional learning within schools. This is a holistic and long term approach which moves beyond a mere service delivery model to create a cohesive and supportive community which engages different members of the participants’ life including parents and teachers to enable the young person to thrive despite the considerable challenges they face.
