More about Extra Time Project
Extra Time Project helps tackle local and national agendas in relation to people aged over 60. Issues such as increased physical activity output and improved social well being are some of the key objectives of this project.
Not only does this programme create participation opportunities in a wide and varied outlook within the community of Swindon it also, more importantly boasts social benefits. Extra Time allows both males and females to try new sports and activities which they may never had experienced due to reasons such as accessibility, cost, transport and confidence.
The project enables this client group who are in danger of social isolation to be able to socialise and create new friendships and social networks. This in turn helps address some social exclusion and isolation issues faced by older people. Off the back of this project the participants have even set up sporting activities and social events outside of the Extra Time Programme. The project has really given all of the participants a sense of belonging within their community.
