More about Empowering girls, boys, and young afro-descendants in values throuhg Taekwondo as a strategic to reduce gender violence rates in Quibdó - Chocó, Colombia

The municipality of Quibdó, capital of the department of Chocó as well as the Pacific region of Colombia, has a predominantly Afro-descendant population; it has historically suffered abandonment, marginalization, oblivion and oppression from the national government, evidencing systematic and structural discrimination, adding to it an armed conflict of more than 50 years that leaves us as direct victims.
On the other hand, there are the social imaginaries, racial discrimination and gender stereotypes with an ethnic focus that encapsulate Afro-Colombian women in household roles, as well as jobs as domestic workers, which in some cases end up being sexually abused, resulting in unwanted pregnancies, preventing them and violating their rights to full and harmonious development.

The Indomitable Spirit Foundation implements a theory of change that contributes to the formation of the being, addressing crucial dimensions in children and young people that contributes to their development. For this we have designed and linked four (4) programs such as:
Kick: that uses Taekwondo with its martial philosophy and sports phase, provides values and principles that translate into life skills.
