More about Dream Sports Program
Dream Sports is a multi-sport alternative education program that contributes to meeting the Right to Play and Development amongst 200 children from vulnerable backgrounds (slum communities, shelter homes for orphan and runaway children) through encouraging their active participation in various sports. It provides critical opportunities for development of life skills such as decision-making and following instructions and interpersonal skills including confidence, teamwork and leadership.
Our own Life Skills Assessment provides valuable input for program planning and improving the project’s effectiveness to the benefit of each child. Regular feedback from the children, partner NGOs, coaches and volunteers through session reports, home visits and circle time helps refine the program. Dream Sports provides children with the choice of four sports: Football, Hockey, Rugby and Table Tennis.
The after-school or weekends sessions are run in partnership with professional sports academies who provide high-quality coaching, by grouping children into batches of 20-25 with 2-3 sessions each week lasting for 2 hours. Professional coaching helps children develop their physical expertise enabling their participation in tournaments and events with mainstream children from local private schools, also encouraging them to interact with the broader community and demonstrate their ability to participate on par with their peers.
