More about Cycling to Gender Equality
We use cycling as a tool to promote gender equality by empowering the girls in Soacha, Colombia (outside of Bogota) to know and understand their rights in addition to feeling confident about exercising those rights. The community we work in is a vulnerable one, and rates of sexual violence and undesired teenage pregnancy are extremely high. Through bicycle workshops, activities, and excursions, we work to prevent both sexual violence and teenage pregnancy while creating a safe space for girls to learn important skills and become future leaders and equals in their communities.
