More about Coaching for a Safer Community
Each year thousands of children, young people and adults are injured or killed through Fires or Road Traffic Collisions. Following a fatal car crash a Firefighter David Amiet decided he wanted to do more to educate and assist people to lead a safer life. This prompted the start of the Coaching for a Safer Community Project, by combining East Sussex & West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service and Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club and The Sussex County FA.
The project in partnership has devised and delivered 3 FA Level 1 Emergency Services Coaching Courses to 81 Fire, Police and Ambulance personnel to assist with the project and deliver our unique coaching sessions. The sessions were devised to teach and educate participants to learn the dangers of Fire & Fire Spread, Hoax Calls & False Alarms, Calling the Emergency Services, Road Safety, Fire Escape Plans, Fire Triangle, Stop, Drop & Roll, Under the Influence of Drink & Drugs, Decision Making, Bullying, Working as a Team and more. Whilst the sessions are being delivered the participants are reading our life saving messages on our footballs, bibs and log books. At the end of each session they are offered a free home safety visit.
