More about Coaching aspirations programme
The project has addressed the need for an increase in the quality of coaching sport in schools whilst also addressing employment opportunities for young people who choose to take a vocational route to their future rather than opt for a University education.
In many cases the young people are unable to progress to university due to personal circumstances and poor experiences in school.
The project works with existing employers who are working in schools and enables them to gain new staff supported through a route of apprenticeships. These apprenticeships are mentored by existing coaches and within six months become valuable members of staff. In that time we have taken them through an education course which gives them the background to working in schools. In addition we develop their basic skills by supporting them in English and Maths.
The outcome has been very positive and all have move into full employment following the training programme.
