More about Coaches across Continents and SEP for Health
Based in western Kenya, the Society Empowerment Project (SEP) is providing hope and education to a region ravaged by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. With Kenya’s highest rate of infection, Oyugis faces high child and adult mortality and a large number of AIDS orphans and poor educational opportunities. Coaches across Continents’ (CaC) project with SEP uses our unique football curriculum and cascading ‘train the trainers’ model to teach teachers/adult leaders an engaging way to educate children on HIV/AIDS awareness and safer health practices.
The CaC curriculum focuses on strengthening the physical and psycho-social well-being of children and the adults who teach them. It also allows them to have some much needed fun. Joining CaC’s partnership with SEP is a team from the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania. Their work will focus on developing a sustainable community based fundraising strategy to ensure long-term resources and impact, which will also positively effect community cohesion
