As the registered charity of MCFC, City in the Community aim to use the power of football and the brand of the Club to engage with people from the local communities where we have a presence. Under the headline of ‘Creating Opportunities through Football’ – all of our projects aim to support local people and improve our City across five key social headings:
• Social Inclusion
• Crime Reduction
• Health & Well-being
• Employability
• Education
Our CITC projects are specifically designed to break down barriers and create inclusive opportunities for people from a variety of background within our local community.
To understand the relevance, importance and impact of our projects; firstly we must understand the local need and issues faced by people in our community:
• 520,000+ people in Greater Manchester live with a form of disability; this is 19% of the total population.
• Greater Manchester Police recorded an average 26,760 crime and ASB incidents per month during 2014.
• 39.6% of Year 6 pupils (age 10 & 11) are classed as overweight/obese. Over 26% of adults are classified as obese.
• 38,000+ people are claiming Job Seekers Allowance. 4.8% of 16 -18-year-olds in Central Ma
