Not nearly enough students in the United States possess the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills needed to succeed in the future. Girls and minorities are particularly underrepresented. Getting kids to understand how STEM is all around them in their everyday lives is imperative in encouraging them to be STEM literate as well as to train our country’s next generation of innovators. Chevron is working to solve this issue of quality education using the power of sports to attract kids to STEM and inspire them by demonstrating real-life applications.
Across the country, Chevron partners with professional sports teams to inspire and educate area students. In the San Francisco Bay Area, home of Chevron’s global headquarters, Chevron’s partnership with the San Francisco 49ers exemplifies how we use sports both to excite student interest in STEM and to provide students with in-depth opportunities for rigorous STEM study.
