More about Change Lives Through Football
1 in 5 young people in the UK are unemployed. Street League Change Lives Through Football and Move Young People Into Work. We harness the power of football and dance fitness to engage with young unemployed people that experience multiple barriers to employment. We found football and dance fitness to be the ultimate hook with which to engage with young people. We initially attract young people to our work through running weekly football and dance fitness session where they can find out more about us and get active.
On our award winning sport and employability Academies, daily dance and football sessions act as the glue to help young people maintain motivation while on the programme. We utilise sport at every step through using football to imbue vital life skills such as team work, communication and leadership through to our innovative curriculum which embeds sport to make understanding Maths and English fun e.g. using league tables to help a young person understand fractions, to our aftercare in which we run a graduate league to see how participants are progressing. Our sport and employability model works; last year 75% of our graduates went on to secure work, training or education
