More about Castrol World Cup CSI Programme for 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2010 FIFA World Cup
Research revealed that the language of football has a universal appeal that cuts across almost all forms of social division. Football can promote health, team building and integration of different groups to bring harmony amongst socially and economically weaker sections of the society Castrol saw an opportunity to link its newly established partnership with FIFA for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and associated tournaments as a strong global platform to drive Football related CSI activity.
For South Africa efforts were specifically targeted at supporting the fight against the strongest social challenge faced by Southern African communities, prevention of the spread of HIV & Aids. Grassroots Soccer, a Southern Africa-based affiliate of the FIFA football for Hope foundation, was identified as a credible community development organization for partnership in the delivery of the Castrol CSI program.
