More about Boxgirls
Boxgirls delivers boxing and leadership programmes in Berlin and Nairobi to change girls' lives. Girls are in large excluded from sport programmes through bad project design. We provide 3-5xWeekly girls-only club training, job preparation and outreach activities to business, government and media to improve women's safe use of public space.
Boxgirls Berlin was recognised by the UN Year of Sport and Physical Activity for successfully bringing Muslim girls into our club and building intercultural understanding. Boxgirls brings girls from disadvantaged communities to train, learn and to compete together. We have won prizes and media attention for our innovations in gender and intercultural work. Our members represent the diversity of our communities in terms of economic status, culture, first language, sexual orientation and age.
Our female coaching team helps our members to earn international-trainer and referee licenses to build our programme and generate income. We are a founding member of the Sport for Social Change Network and partner with schools and universities in Europe and Africa.
Our members are trained in participatory video to tell how every girl can transform her aggression into ambition through boxing and help lead their community into a more inclusive future.
