More about Born to Succeed
The Muslim Women’s Sport Foundation (MWSF) exists primarily to increase the number of BME Asian and Muslim women involved with sport through playing, coaching or organising and supporting our teams, leagues and tournaments. Through providing facilities and support that take into consideration religious and cultural sensitivities, BME women of all abilities are offered the opportunity to develop with professional coaches in a club atmosphere and compete in female only environments.
Training sessions for basketball and fustal take place on a weekly basis and through our new three year project titled “Born to Succeed” (B2S) due to start in July 09 a school outreach programme and coaching and refereeing courses will also be held to encourage and develop girls as well as set a solid foundation to ensure there is a good representation of females in sport. In addition to our grassroots work, the MWSF also holds key advisory roles in a number of policy making groups such as the FA Race Equality and Advisory Group (REAG) and Islamaphobia and Anti-Semitism working group chaired by John Mann MP. We are also regularly invited to present to organisations and events to provide a greater understanding of BME Asian and Muslim women in sport.
We work closely with the English FA, Middlesex County FA, London FA, England Basketball, the Football Foundation, Women’s Sport and Fitness Foundation, Sporting Equals and many other government and non-governmental organisations.
