More about Blues Bodycare Getting Fit for Life
'Blues Bodycare Getting Fit for Life' began as a small pilot project in 2007, using multi-sport and dance activities together with an educational healthy eating message to tackle the growing problem of childhood obesity and poor adult emotional health. Since that time it has developed into the most effective project of its type in the Region. The project is typically delivered over a 5 week period which begins with a health measurement check which involves the participant taking control of their own individual programme for better health.
Multi-Sport, fun play and dance activities are delivered to music, with raps and chants to aid with motivation. Food and activity diaries are completed each week with incentives such as tickets for Southend Utd games, free dance or swimming sessions at local leisure centres.
Adults partake in a similar programme and are introduced to yoga and relaxation techniques in addition to multi sport and dance. Hard to reach groups in areas of deprivation are specifically targetted. Schools, community centres, libraries, care homes and the football club are the venues we use, taking the project into the heart of the community.
