More about Beyond Hoops
Beyond Hoops program uses the sport of basketball as the vehicle for empowerment through organizing basketball camp and life skills camps. We focus on social issues affecting young people like HIV/AIDS, Drug Abuse, Bullying, Crime and Gang Violence.
We focus on this social issues because young people are growing up in an environment of dynamic change. For some this complexity provides opportunity and choices, for others it means a struggle for survival. Many young people have stamina, talent, energy, curiosity, a sense of adventure and invulnerability.
They are resourceful and resilient even under the most conditions. Most of the youth who are productive and energetic remain unemployed, continue to suffer from poor health, lack sufficient support to build their capacities and some of them have special needs that require special attention.
