More about Basketball without Borders

The Basketball without Borders program is a series of basketball camps that unite young athletes from across each continent to take part in basketball instruction and competition. The NBA and FIBA select the players (ages 19 & under) based on their basketball skills, leadership abilities and dedication to the sport of basketball. To promote friendship and diversity, the campers are divided into teams without regard to race and nationality.

They share living quarters with their new teammates and participate in daily seminars that promote education, leadership, character, healthy living and HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. NBA players and coaches serve as camp coaches and mentors working with the campers on basketball instruction and life skills training.

In addition, NBA players and coaches participate in extensive community outreach efforts focusing on education, grassroots basketball development and health-related issues. Partnering with non-government organizations (NGOs), local governments and corporate partners, players and coaches participate in grassroots events like basketball clinics, hospitals visits, and the dedication of newly created places where kids and families can live, learn or play. These places leave a lasting legacy in communities worldwide and have featured the development of schools, homes, vocational training centers, basketball courts and technology centers.
