One of the reasons of a very high unemployment of youth in Palestine is due to the skills gap and mismatch between the labor demand and supply. The unemployment rate in Palestine in 2017 was 27.7%, distributed as 22.5% for males and 47.8% for females. Results revealed that unemployment was concentrated among youth aged 15-24 years at 43.8% (37.7% for males and 70.3% for females).
There is lack of awareness on the different educational pathways and careers.
By using sports as a tool, we are aiming at minimizing the skills mismatch gap by giving youth the chance for choice by raising their awareness on the educational pathways, the professions demand of the labor market and develop their employment skills.
Youth get hands on experience and learnings in vocational educational centers/universities, as well as sports and life skills training during the orientation days and camps.
