More about Allianz' Paralympic Engagement
People with a disability still face stereotyping in many parts of the world. When Allianz initiated the partnership with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the German National Paralympic Committee (DBS) in 2006, the company committed itself to support Paralympic athletes in preparing for the Paralympic Games and also to reduce stereotypes, to raise awareness as well as to promote courage and equality.
As a multiplier for the Paralympic Movement, Allianz aims at reducing still existing and hidden, social reservations to a larger extent. By using the power of sports, Allianz and its partners promote the rights of persons with a disability to become full and active members of the society. Together, they help to foster public awareness of Paralympic Sport, increase media coverage and create a greater interest in general. With the TV format “Paralympic Moments”, information graphics and participation in the International Paralympic Day, Allianz provides athletes with a platform to demonstrate that living with a disability offers great chances and opportunities as well as to aspire public recognition and respect for what they do. Allianz wants to encourage people with a disability to actively take charge of their life.
