More about Alive & Kicking Ghana
Alive & Kicking Ghana uses the passion for sport in Ghana to sustain employment through the production of sports balls. With just 20% of the Ghanaian workforce enjoying the security of salaried employment, this new operation has a transformative effect on its employees. Employment is targeted at those who find it most difficult to find work – over 60% of the newly employed stitchers are disabled, a third are women and half are under 25.
These jobs will be sustained by the sale of sports balls to a range of retailers and sport and education NGOs, as well as through donations to schools and children’s projects. Alive & Kicking successfully supplies some of the biggest retailers and charities in its previous countries of operation and believes the Ghanaian market to perfectly suited to this model. Secondary objectives include the provision of quality, durable sports balls to children who would otherwise be unable to afford them and contributing to the eradication of preventable disease through sport-based social outreach initiatives.
