More about AIR Sports Network sports programmes
AIR Sports Network uses sport to engage with the hardest to reach individuals in society, the majority of our clients are unemployed, ex-offenders, have substance misuse or alcohol issues, are homeless or suffer from economic exclusion. We initially engage individuals in sport and fitness programmes as an informal means to promote the ideas of personal change, achievement, teamwork and goal setting. Once individuals begin to view themselves as individuals of worth and that they have the ability to succeed we introduce our mentoring and move on programmes: mentoring builds the confidence of individuals who are often in periods of transition further and our move on programme works with client’s through sessions on developing employability and raising awareness of local ETE opportunities. The next stage involves bringing local employers, colleges, training providers and local support organisations to our sessions to engage with clients and to spend time in group work and discussions regarding their opportunities in a non-formal environment. The final stage involves supporting clients to engage with these services with a view to achieving a positive destinations outcome.
