More about AFL IDAHO Project
The AFL underwent significant reform of its rules and policies relating to players and clubs, which explicitly prohibited discrimination and/or abuse on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. Discriminatory attitudes in sport impact on players, spectators and participants at all levels of sport.
The AFL has a state and amateur league structure, where hundreds of thousands of people either play, participate in the governance of local clubs, join training groups (OzKick) or are spectators at games across the country. This means that its reach is extensive, and its strong brand presence means that it has the capacity to deliver behavior that models inclusive and non-discriminatory practices, and encourages a positive culture within its activities.
