More about ADRENALINA – Adrenaline
Back in nineties Medellin was considered the most violent city in the world; Nevertheless, few know the story of the city’s regeneration, of how the city has overcome fear and now embraces hope, and fewer the role played by the articulated policy on sports.
Medellin Governmental Agency for Sports and Recreation- INDER– was funded in 1993 and ever since has worked for the construction of peace and development through sports.
Adrenalina is the New Attempt of the agency to address a population that was out of the scope of the local government. An important group of people with their own characteristics, apathetic to traditional sports and social standards, that find in the new trends a way to reaffirm their difference. Adrenalina is a strategy to materialize the discourse of diversity by including this population trough the Adrenaline Sports Schools, giving consultancy services to organized groups, and by providing city-events exhibiting new trends. We aim to reduce conflicts and segregation within the territory, to give them the recognition and reception they are demanding with acts of rebellion, and to continue to use sports as a builder of identity but not of homogenization
