More about Action is Superior to Inaction
Our sports programme is a ‘social movement’ that focuses on student’s confidence and competence to take part in a range of physical activities that become a central part of their lives, both in and out of school. We use school sports as a medium to reach out to economically weak students from the slums to express themselves through sports or Indian dance and thereby ensure they attend school. Through this strategy, the drop-out rate has fallen, attendance has gone up, Board results improved tremendously (200%) and community living has become safer.
Drugs, crime and gang wars have been completely wiped out from our neighbourhood. - Students learnt about the Educational values of sports. They developed intellectual skills by challenging themselves and others in physical activities, games and sports. It taught them the concept of ‘fair play’ in community life. - Students integrated with the mainstream community life, promoted peace and tolerance towards others with a sense of social justice. They peruse ‘excellence’ as a means to make healthy choices to strive and become a ‘leader’ within their community. - “Happiness” and good health became the only quotient of their life.
