More about A Ganar
A Ganar is built upon the premise that soccer and team sports can serve as effective tools for social and economic development by teaching disadvantaged youth the skills necessary to succeed in the labor market. Soccer serves as a platform from which participants learn six core skills that employers look for: teamwork, discipline, communication, respect, a focus on results, and continual self-improvement.
Youth unemployment in Latin American and the Caribbean is approximately 15%. This economic exclusion goes hand in hand with social exclusion, as youth are prevented from contributing and participating in their communities, as well as being those most likely to commit or be a victim of a crime. Youth face some of the strongest barriers to entry in the job market, and just having technical skills is not enough to compete in this environment. Instead, A Ganar uses a multi-pronged approach, combining soft skills with market-driven technical skills, helping match youth with training programs that can provide accreditation and real work experience, and linking them to social capital and job networks that they are so often excluded from.
