More about “Saathi Sanga Manka Kura” (Chatting with my Best Friend)
‘Saathi Sanga Manka Kura’ (SSMK) or ‘Chatting With My Best Friend’ is a youth focused radio program produced “by young people for young people”. It celebrated its 7th anniversary in April 2008. Especially designed to equip young people with knowledge and life-skills and empower them to deal with difficult situations they face in their daily lives, such as, career issues, interpersonal relationships, encouragement for sports activities, concerns about sexual reproductive health, prevention of HIV infection and drug use.
The program is supplemented by outreach activities that motivate them further by organising them in a network of listeners' clubs. It is further supplemented with print media that publishes a central quarterly magazine and five regional monthly bulletins from five developmental regions, managed by a network of listeners’ club members. The publications aim to provide an open platform for sharing the concerns of young people in the country.
