More about 2nd Chance CoachMakers
Our projects are situated in communities where Youth unemployment, household poverty and poor education are high.
Our Bristol project is the heart of one the highest areas of deprivation in the UK. In the domain of Education Skills and Training. Four areas in South Bristol are in the most deprived 100 nationally including: Ilminster Avenue West in Filwood ward, ranked 23rd nationally, two streets away from 2nd Chance's Head office.
Our Cornwall project is in Camborne. In June 2012 Experian published a report in the Guardian newspaper, detailing that in terms of household poverty, Cornwall ranked in the worst 5% in the country. In Camborne between 50.1% - 81.1% of households were at risk of poverty, the highest in the region.
Our Coach Makers programme offers an alternative route into employment as well as qualifications, leadership and skills for 16-18 year olds. Young people learn how to play and coach a wide variety of sports, which they are then in turn supported by 2nd Chance to deliver in their local communities and schools. The programme builds confidence and creates sustainable employment opportunities to kickstart young people in the workplace.
