Beyond the Barriers, powered by 2nd Chance Group was a full-day event exploring the role of sport in promoting the desistance of crime.

The event brought together senior stakeholders, practitioners and leaders  within Government, Sport and the Criminal Justice System to discuss best practice and the power of sport to support people and communities involved with the Criminal Justice system. Beyond the Barriers, powered by 2nd Chance Group played host to the launch of a new initiative - the National Alliance of Sport for the Desistance of Crime bringing together a range of stakeholders, inside and outside of sport to discuss sport's role in addressing the desistance of crime

The NASDC steering group is supported by: Ministry of Justice, National Offender Management Service, Youth Justice Board, Public Health England (Health & Justice), Prison PE Services (NOMS), Comic Relief, Clinks, Prisoners Education Trust, Unicef, Royal Holloway University of London, Gloucestershire University, New Philanthropy Capital, Beyond Sport, Sported, Street Games, Football League Trust, Active Communities Network, Family Lives, and Tanayah Sam Ltd (Service user voice). All of which have been working together to build a platform to source, evidence, share and support the impact sport and activity can and is having towards the desistance of crime.
