With kids returning to school in the US, UNICEF Kid Power and partner WWE Community have teamed up on a #ClassroomComeback sweepstakes to support educators. Through September 30, educators working with students in grades two through eight have a chance to win a $1,000 grant to help them in purchasing resources for their classrooms.
UNICEF Kid Power, a program of UNICEF USA, is a tech-enabled education program that engages kids and schools nationwide to make local and global impact. The interactive video platform empowers students to discover how their everyday activities, like moving and learning, can have real-world implications, "unlocking" powerful health and educational outcomes for themselves and malnourished children around the world. The program combines philanthropy and fun with a focus on social-emotional learning (SEL) and mental health, child rights and equity and access for all students. It is free for all elementary school teachers.
As part of WWE’s partnership with UNICEF Kid Power and its commitment to advancing access to education in the US, WWE superstars visit schools around the country to promote education, empowerment and diversity. This school year they will together reach at least 7,000 classrooms with WWE superstars featured in a special collection of Kid Power Ups, which are short, interactive videos designed to get kids moving, playing and learning.
"We're incredibly excited to grow our UNICEF Kid Power family by partnering with WWE," said Caryl Stern, President and CEO, UNICEF USA. "Around the world, UNICEF empowers young people to create solutions to real-world problems, and UNICEF Kid Power gives that same opportunity to children in the United States. Together, we can ensure every child is empowered to take action."
With each Kid Power Up, students work together and improve social-emotional skills, and with every 10 Kid Power Ups, a classroom unlocks a packet of RUTF (ready-to-use therapeutic food). For the Classroom Comeback Sweepstakes, five winning schools will be selected based on their completion of at least 20 Kid Power Up videos from August 9 - September 30 and must unlock two packets of RUTF.
“WWE is proud to partner with UNICEF and leverages our platforms to help kids combat malnutrition the world over,” said Stephanie McMahon, WWE Chief Brand Officer. “Through a series of videos with WWE Superstars, kids will be encouraged to dance and think about their personal values, goals and challenges and how they can help save other children’s lives.”
Each winning school will be awarded a $1,000 grant that can be used to purchase supplies or materials for classrooms to support student learning. The winners will be also named a WWE Community Champion.
