Beyond Sport Network organizations, STEM Sports® and TIBU Maroc have partnered together to provide a hands-on K-8 supplemental curriculum using basketball as a vehicle to drive STEM based learning in classrooms, after-school programs and camps.
The two groups began this partnership after meeting at a Beyond Sport event in 2018.
STEM Sports® provides turnkey educational curriculum for children 5 years-old and older that combines Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines with sports. They deliver authentic engagement opportunities to students and youth by using BMX, basketball, football, soccer, and volleyball and more as the catalysts to drive STEM-based learning in classrooms, after-school programs, and camps.
STEM Sports aims to develop critical thinking, collaboration, creative problem-solving, and leadership skills in their students that can be applied throughout their education and future careers. With curriculum being implemented in all 50 of the United States, this is STEM Sports’® first international endeavor.
TIBU Maroc, also referred to as TIBU Morocco, is a leading organization in education and social inclusion of young people through sport in Morocco.
“TIBU Maroc is proud to start a new partnership with STEM Sports®. The implementation of STEM Sports® curriculum in Morocco will present new career paths and job opportunities for almost 100,000 young people that we serve. This partnership, in addition to being innovative in its approach with a training based on sport, explores the potential and motivation of teachers, trainers and kids,” stated Mr. Mohamed Amine Zariat, Ashoka Fellow & TIBU President.
“By pairing STEM curriculum with sport, a real-life application, we have created very successful and useful tools to engage children in their educational endeavors. TIBU Maroc sees this vision and we’re very excited to partner with them,” said Jeff Golner, President & CEO of STEM Sports®.
