TeamSnap, a leading provider of sports management software and online community for youth sports, has launched a new community impact program to make youth sports accessible and equitable for all. The program, called TeamSnap Impact, was created to support kids in underserved communities and navigate the growing challenges they face in sports participation.
With a renewed commitment of $1 million, TeamSnap Impact plans to tackle the major problems facing youth sports, including affordability, gender equality, quality coaching and more. The program is partnering with sport-based youth development organizations at local and national levels that are equally dedicated to ensuring all kids have access to sports. To make the most impact in leveling the playing field, they have structured the new program's focus into three key pillars: Technology Grants, Direct Funding and Policy.
Founded in 2009, TeamSnap has “changed the way people manage sports and group activities.” The company offers consumer brands new ways to connect with passionate youth sports audiences from across the globe. Over 25 million coaches, administrators, players and parents, and over 19,000 sports organizations across 100+ sports and activities use its communication, scheduling, payment collection, registration and real-time game sharing services.
Lance Lee, Director of TeamSnap Impact, stated: “Our aim with TeamSnap Impact is to leverage our deep roots within youth sports to make a real and tangible impact on underserved youth. “With this approach, we'll be able to foster positive change in communities around the world through increased access to quality sports programs.”
The technology grants will be directed to youth sport for development organizations to help them with team management. The first grants will go to Philadelphia Youth Basketball (PYB) and the Philadelphia Youth Sports Collaborative (PYSC). TeamSnap Impact is offering a two-year technology grant to PYB and discounted packages to PYSC organizations that qualify to help the organizations improve participation, communication and coordination of events.
To directly impact young athletes in their communities, the new program will invest in building community programs through scholarships and monetary grants to organizations that serve young athletes. To begin their efforts, TeamSnap Impact has been helping to build community programs in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, through their partnerships with PYB and PYSC, which has over 60 member organizations.
TeamSnap Impact is also dedicated to being an active leader in the formulation of high-level policy, regulations, guidelines and plans affecting youth sports. It aims to shape youth sports policy through partnerships with Aspen Institute’s Sport and Society Program, Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) and PLAY Sports Coalition.
