SPORT & STEM Alliance welcomes 20 new members

With an exciting few months coming up for the Sport & STEM Alliance, we are proud to announce the introduction of 20 new members that have joined since the inaugural gathering of the group in New York in December.

ESPN, NBA, WNBA, MLB, NHL, STEM Achievement, STEM Sports, i-tri girls, thegood.group, The Victor Cruz Foundation, The Harlequins Foundation, North Melbourne FC, 360 Skills Academy, BOKS, Challenge 22, Women Win, U.S. Tennis Association, Autodesk, New York University and the Minnesota Vikings have become the latest organizations to join the coalition of like-minded, leading organizations driving innovation in STEM education through sports. 

The Alliance has gained global influencers but equally as important, it has gained the expertise and hands-on knowledge of NGOs working on the ground in schools, underserved communities, and with marginalized groups - who are able to share best-practice and scope for development in the sector with the Alliance.

The NGOs and Foundations will bring immense value to the discussion and actions from the group whilst simultaneously having the opportunity to disseminate their work further, with some of the world's biggest sporting businesses. Each of these organizations is heavily immersed in the space, passionately believing that sport provides the perfect platform to engage young people in STEM education. Each of them have unique curriculum and methodologies to bring to the table, and this will be at the forefront of Beyond Innovation and subsequent Sport and STEM Alliance gatherings.

These new organizations have all joined founding members Beyond Sport, 49ers Foundation, Chevron, and Verizon; and member groups UNICEF, Chelsea FC Foundation, Everfi, and #YesWeCode - who all joined the Alliance in 2017.

Beyond Innovation in 2017 was the ideal launchpad for the Sport & STEM Alliance, and we’ve already seen commitments from some of the largest businesses in the world to be part of this unique opportunity to leverage sport in the pursuit of engaging, effective and impactful approaches to STEM education.

This year's Beyond Innovation will expand on the launch of the Sport & STEM Alliance, bringing together global experts, inspirational innovators, and committed decision-makers to discuss how we can tackle one of the world’s most pressing issues. 

In 2018, the Alliance will continue to grow, having more than doubled in size since last year’s event, and will have a hugely important role and presence at Beyond Innovation, and in private convenings post-event. We will also look forward to sharing the commissioned research from last year’s Alliance by our Academic Partners, NYU.
