SPORT & STEM ALLIANCE INAUGURAL GATHERING IN NEW YORK

The coalition of like-minded, leading global organizations who share a common goal of further understanding how sport can be used to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) met in New York City for the first time last week, to continue its ground-breaking work in shaping the direction of sport’s role in STEM education.

In May of this year, Beyond Sport held Beyond Innovation in partnership with the 49ers Foundation and Chevron, which focused on how sport can be used effectively to engage more young people in STEM education.

The event saw the launch of the Sport & Stem Alliance, a network of forward-thinking organizations committed to investing, promoting and implementing programming that uses sport as a tool to promote STEM subjects.

NYU, Academic Partner to Beyond Sport, who are leading an innovative research project into the topic in partnership with Chevron, hosted the gathering which featured 25 senior figures from a range of organizations that include Founding Members of the Alliance Beyond Sport, 49ers Foundation, Chevron and Verizon and its Members: UNICEF, Everfi, Two Circles, Chelsea Fc Foundation, HP, DirecTV, ESPN, MLB, NBA Cares, WNBA Cares and #YesWeCode.

Membership to the Alliance includes:

-  Exclusive access to research and knowledge sharing platforms focusing on sport and STEM education.

-  Invitation, branding and speaking opportunities at bespoke biannual gatherings specifically focused on key issues around sport and STEM education

- Quarterly news and content with the most up to date topical news and opinions in this space
