Free online resources from the sport community

Acts of kindness and support that are taking place around the world are providing much needed positivity. Here are just a few examples from the sports world - a highlight of amazing organizations who have stepped up to provide free digital resources in this unprecedented time. 

Sport England has teamed up with the Youth Sport Trust and government to deliver virtual sport sessions for UK children during the school closures. More than 400 trusted and experienced leaders in school sport and physical activity are being redeployed to provide online activities and digital content for children. School Games Organisers who would normally be helping to put on county, inter and intra-school competitions at this time of year, will now be tasked with helping to keep the nation’s children active. The weekly program will include a variety of activities, such as fitness exercises, personal challenges, online contests, problem-solving games and activities which support physical competence – as well as mindfulness. TRG Foundation, a Tiger Woods Charity are providing free STEM-focused resources for students, parents and educators. The resources offered through their no-cost digital platform will help parents keep students engaged until schools are reopened. With an offer of student-driven digital experiences, lesson plans, webinars and training videos, students will be able to explore current and new STEM subjects and techniques.  Learn more.

Liverpool FC continues to tackle social isolation and support their local community during the coronavirus outbreak with the launch of its new LFC Connect Initiative to help people stay connected. In a bid to reduce social isolation among older and vulnerable neighbours in Liverpool teams will provide weekly calls offering a friendly chat on the phone and having a virtual 'cuppa' with the most vulnerable within the community. WWE continue their partnership with UNICEF Kid Powera free dance, yoga and activity video platform to help students feel energized and empowered at home. A notable feature also allows a way to play and unlock ready-to-use therapeutic food that will be delivered to severely malnourished children around the world. Kids can get active and save lives with Kid Power Up videos featuring their favorite WWE superstars With school closures increasing around the world, this online program lets students stay connected with their classes, stay healthy and have fun. Learn more

The Arsenal Foundation will be donating £100,000 to UK local charities and organizations that are supporting those most in need during the pandemic. They also launched Arsenal in the Community cars to transport frontline NHS mental health workers. These are set to be driven on a voluntary basis by Arsenal in the Community staff and will help support NHS workers in delivering vital medication and emergency supplies. Learn more
