MLS WORKS, the charitable arm of Major League Soccer, has revealed 24 nominees for the 2019 MLS WORKS Community MVP contest, presented by Wells Fargo. Each season, the organizations recognize individuals who are using soccer to improve the lives of others.
Fans can nominate themselves or an individual who sets an example as a leader in the community and uses soccer as a tool to help make a positive impact in one of the following areas:
- Social issues focusing on inclusion, diversity and equality
- Health issues affecting men, women or children
- Community service for a local, national and/or international charity or community organization
- Sustainability efforts to create a cleaner and healthier environment
With each of the current 24 MLS clubs represented with a local fan working to make the community around them better, there are plenty of worthy causes and programs to vote for. You can view the nominees, why they were nominated and vote on the MLS WORKS Community MVP contest website. Voting closes on July 31 at 2 pm ET.
Winners will receive $25,000 for their cause or program of choice, and all nominees will be honored at the 2019 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target at Exploria Stadium in Orlando on July 31 (8 pm ET | FS1, UniMás). The Grand Prize winner will be based on online and Twitter voting results to be announced at the All-Star Game.
